1. About FEMNET

The African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) is a pan- African, feminist and membership-based network based in Nairobi, Kenya with over 800 individual and institutional members across 50 African countries and in the diaspora. FEMNET envisions a society where African women and girls thrive in dignity and well- being, free from patriarchal and neoliberal oppression and injustices.

Over the years, FEMNET has strategically positioned herself as a convener, organizer and facilitator of critical dialogues around women’s economic justice and rights; transformative women’s leadership; sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR); climate justice and natural resource governance as well as, ending all forms of violence and harmful/ discriminatory practices against women and girls.

FEMNET continues to be intentional in influencing decisions made at national, regional and global levels, constantly ensuring African women voices are amplified and their needs, priorities and aspirations are prioritized in key policy dialogues and outcomes that have direct and indirect impact on their lives. 2. Objective/ Purpose of Assignment

FEMNET seeks to establish a pool of pre-qualified videographers and photographers who can consistently deliver exceptional, high-quality visual products that align with our standards and values. These service providers will play a critical role in documenting FEMNET’s programs, campaigns, and advocacy efforts by producing compelling videos and photographs that not only capture activities but also powerfully tell the stories of impact, resilience, and transformation across Africa. By pre-qualifying reliable and skilled professionals, FEMNET aims to ensure timely access to creative talent capable of producing professional, broadcast-quality content suitable for diverse platforms including social media, publications, reports, presentations, and media engagement.

3. Scope of Work and Terms of Reference.

For any specific assignment, the selected Company/Team will be responsible for the following:

A. Videography Production:

The service provider will be responsible for the entire video production cycle, including but not limited to:

  • Pre-Production: Conceptualization, script writing, and scenario development in close coordination with and for approval by FEMNETs focal persons.
  • Videography: Professional filming using their own HD/4K quality video cameras, audio recording equipment, lighting, and drones (if required). This includes:
    • Conducting interviews and recording
    • Capturing footage of events, activities, and

Post-Production:

  • Editing footage in line with the approved
  • Audio balancing, colour grading, and incorporating background
  • Develop short and long-form video content that highlights FEMNET’s work, impact, and advocacy priorities.
  • Recording and embedding professional voice-overs/narration.
  • Edit and package videos with professional graphics, subtitles, translations (if needed), music, and branding in line with FEMNET guidelines.
  • Format exporting for various dissemination platforms (web, social media, broadcast).
  • Archiving all raw footage and edited work in an organized manner for future access. Provide raw footage and edited versions within agreed timelines.

B. Photography:

  • Provide complete photographic coverage of assigned events, locations, and
  • Deliver high-quality, high-resolution, edited, and captioned pictures per assigned event/day.
  • Photos must tell a story, capturing key moments, emotions, participant engagement, and the overall atmosphere.
  • All photos must be professionally color-corrected and branded
  • Deliver photographs that are narrative-driven, diverse, inclusive, and suitable for digital platforms, reports, and media use.

4. Key Deliverables and Outputs.

  • Main Documentary/Feature Videos: 5–10-minute professional video summarizing an event or project.
  • Participant Testimonials: 2–3-minute focused videos featuring interviews with key
  • Daily Recap Videos: 1-minute social media-friendly videos summarizing each day of an event.
  • Photo Essays: A curated set of images that narrate a story from the field or an
  • Graphic Creation: Simple motion graphics or lower thirds for videos and static graphics for photos where necessary.
  • A final, approved video product(s) in HD/4K quality, delivered in multiple formats (e.g., .MP4 for web, .MOV for archive).
  • All video products must include appropriate FEMNET branding and
  • A minimum of 60 high-resolution, edited, and captioned photographs per agreed
  • All raw video footage and high-resolution raw photos, clearly organized and archived on a provided Google Drive or external hard drive.
  • Duly signed consent forms for all individuals featured (especially in close-up human- interest shots).

5. Required Qualification, Skills and Competencies

The applicant should have:

Interested Companies/Teams must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in videography and photography, with a portfolio showcasing work for corporate, NGO, or international organizations.
  • Must own and use professional-grade, full HD/4K video cameras, DSLR/mirrorless cameras, professional audio recording equipment, lighting, and editing software.
  • Advanced skills in professional editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and photo editing tools (Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).
  • A dedicated team of at least three (3) members (e.g., videographer, photographer, editor) for larger assignments.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality, narrative-driven visual storytelling, including examples of interviews, documentaries, and event coverage.
  • Proficiency in English or French is Bilingual capabilities (English/French/Portuguese) are a strong advantage.
  • Must be based in Africa and have experience working in multiple African contexts
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering media coverage for conferences, corporate events, workshops, or large-scale gatherings.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with event organizers and other stakeholders.
  • Creativity and attention to detail in capturing key moments and delivering polished, high-quality visual content.
  • Adaptability and the ability to work efficiently in dynamic event environments, often under changing schedules or conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling live-streaming services (if applicable to the event), ensuring high-quality broadcasts for virtual attendees.

6. Duration of Assignment

Assignments will be on a need-basis. The duration for each specific contract will be defined in the subsequent contract, ranging from single-day events to multi-day field documentation.

7. Liaison, Coordination and Reporting

The Photography and Videography Company will report to the FEMNET Communications Focal Person.

8. Selection of Consultant

The consultant shall be contracted by FEMNET. The contract will include Withholding Tax (WHT) deduction in line with laws of contracting where FEMNET is headquartered. A WHT certificate will be issued to the consultant. Payment will be done through bank transfer to the consultant bank account. FEMNET will not meet the costs of bank charges. Payment schedule will be agreed upon with the consultant upon successful selection. In case of team/firm applicants, a designated assignment contract manager will be the contact between FEMNET and the team and responsible for all deliverables.

9. Intellectual Property Rights

The consultant expressly assigns to FEMNET any copyright arising from the outputs produced while executing the service contract. The consultant may not use, reproduce, disseminate, or authorize others to use, reproduce or disseminate any output produced under the service contract without prior consent from FEMNET.

10. Terms of Service

This is a non-staff contract and therefore the consultant is not entitled to insurance, medical cover or any other status or conditions as FEMNET staff.

11. Application Process

The application must include the following uploaded documents within the form:

  • Company Profile or Team CV, including names and contacts of at least three (3) professional references.
  • Technical Proposal: A brief outline of your approach to a typical
  • Financial Proposal: A daily, half-day or hourly rate card for services (Videography, Photography, Editing). Do not include costs for equipment as it is expected that you have the requisite equipment.
  • Portfolio: Links to online portfolios, showreels, or samples of previous work (preferably via Google Drive, Vimeo, or a website). Please specify your role in each sample provided.
  • List of Equipment: A list of your primary video and photography
  • One Recommendation Letter from a satisfied client, clearly referencing the work you
