1. About FEMNET

The African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) is a pan- African, feminist and membership-based network based in Nairobi, Kenya with over 800 individual and institutional members across 50 African countries and in the diaspora. FEMNET envisions a society where African women and girls thrive in dignity and well-being, free from patriarchal and neoliberal oppression and injustices.

Over the years, FEMNET has strategically positioned herself as a convener, organizer and facilitator of critical dialogues around women’s economic justice and rights; transformative women’s leadership; sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR); climate justice and natural resource governance as well as, ending all forms of violence and harmful/ discriminatory practices against women and girls.

2. Feminist Engagement with the African Convention on EVAWG

FEMNET, in partnership with UNICEF, is convening the Regional Feminist Leadership and Cross-Country Learning Lab for Community-Driven Advocacy a regional feminist leadership and cross-country learning space bringing together women-led, youth-led, and feminist organizations from across East and Southern Africa. The Lab is designed to strengthen community-driven advocacy to end harmful practices, including child marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), and gender-based violence (GBV), while fostering feminist solidarity, intergenerational leadership, and collective action.

In line with FEMNET’s commitment to feminist knowledge generation, movement- building, and ethical storytelling, the convening will serve as a critical space for visual documentation, feminist archiving, and narrative amplification. Photography and videography will be used to capture learning moments, leadership exchanges, advocacy strategies, and lived realities shared during the Lab, and to produce high-quality visual content that supports UNICEF–FEMNET advocacy, reporting, and broader regional and global campaigns on ending violence and harmful practices against women and girls.

3. Objective/ Purpose of Assignment

 The main objective of this assignment is to visually document and amplify feminist voices, strategies, and collective advocacy emerging from the Regional Feminist Leadership and Cross-Country Learning Lab for Community-Driven Advocacy and to produce synchronized multimedia products that support FEMNET’s broader campaigns on ending violence against women and girls.

4. Scope of Work and Terms of Reference

The selected Video Production Company will be responsible for providing comprehensive photography and videography services for the entire convening. The assignment requires professional, high-quality visual documentation that captures the substance, energy, and feminist values of the meeting, while producing multimedia content suitable for advocacy, digital campaigns, donor reporting, and institutional archiving.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Providing comprehensive photo and video coverage of the convening, including plenary sessions, interactive group work, wellness and artistic spaces, and informal moments.
  • Producing high-quality, story-driven photos
  • A small selection of edited photos to be shared daily for social media use
  • Full set of professionally edited high-resolution photographs delivered within five days after the convening
  • Conducting on-site interviews and producing 6-7 case study and videos (3–4 minutes each) featuring participants and partners, including a consistent intro/outro as well as a teaser aligned with FEMNET branding.
  • Producing three 2 highlight videos showcasing key moments, themes, and collective energy of the training.
  • Producing two to three (2–3) short reel-style videos based on approved scripts for social media dissemination.
  • Producing a short advocacy video (2-3 minutes) for ongoing campaign and advocacy use.

Working closely with FEMNET’s Communications team to ensure:

  • Feminist-centred and ethical storytelling
  • Consistent branding and messaging
  • Optimization of content for multiple platforms (Instagram, X, LinkedIn, YouTube), donor reporting, and archives
  • Providing FEMNET with all raw footage and editable files for institutional archiving and future use.

The Video Production Company shall be based in Nairobi, Kenya. All photography and videography will be undertaken during the Regional Feminist Leadership and Cross- Country Learning Lab for Community-Driven Advocacy to be held in Nairobi, Kenya.

5. Key Deliverables and Outputs.

  • Comprehensive event photo coverage (minimum 100 edited high-resolution photos), including a small daily selection for social media.
  • 6-7 videos (3–4 minutes each) featuring participants and partners, with a consistent intro/outro.
  • Three (3) highlight videos capturing key moments and themes of the
  • 2–3 short reel-style videos for social media, developed per approved
  • Short EVAWG advocacy videos (1–2 minutes) for ongoing FEMNET
  • Delivery of all raw footage and final edited outputs within agreed

6. Required Qualification, Skills and Competencies

The applicant should have:

  • Proven track record with at least 7 years of experience in providing videography, photography, and multimedia services for high-profile events.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively direct video content, including translating scripts and concepts into compelling visual narratives aligned with feminist storytelling and advocacy goals.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering media coverage for conferences, corporate events, workshops, or large-scale gatherings.
  • Strong technical expertise in event videography, including lighting, sound recording, and editing techniques.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro)
  • Ability to produce high-quality, visually appealing videos that align with the event’s theme and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with event organizers and other stakeholders.
  • A professional portfolio showcasing past work in event media production, including both videography and photography services.
  • Access to  high-quality  and  up-to-date  videography  and  post-production equipment.
  • Creativity and attention to detail in capturing key moments and delivering polished, high-quality visual content.
  • Adaptability and the ability to work efficiently in dynamic event environments, often under changing schedules or conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling live-streaming services (if applicable to the event), ensuring high-quality broadcasts for virtual attendees.

7. Duration of Assignment

This is a 7-day assignment, comprising 4 days of production work during the convening and 3 days of post-production work. The production phase will take place from 10th–13th March 2026, during the Regional Feminist Leadership and Cross-Country Learning Lab for Community-Driven Advocacy.

8. Liaison, Coordination and Reporting

 The Multimedia Production Company will report to the FEMNET Communications Focal Person.

9. Selection of Consultant

The consultant shall be contracted by FEMNET. The contract will include Withholding Tax (WHT) deduction in line with laws of contracting where FEMNET is headquartered. A WHT certificate will be issued to the consultant. Payment will be done through bank transfer to the consultant bank account. FEMNET will not meet the costs of bank charges. Payment schedule will be agreed upon with the consultant upon successful selection. In case of team/firm applicants, a designated assignment contract manager will be the contact between FEMNET and the team and responsible for all deliverables.

10. Intellectual Property Rights

The consultant expressly assigns to FEMNET any copyright arising from the outputs produced while executing the service contract. The consultant may not use, reproduce, disseminate, or authorize others to use, reproduce or disseminate any output produced under the service contract without prior consent from FEMNET.

11. Terms of Service

This is a non-staff contract and therefore the consultant is not entitled to insurance, medical cover or any other status or conditions as FEMNET staff.
