Bridging Voices at Kakamega
Poem By Mercy Chelangat; EU – YSB Kenya
Beneath the sunlit Kakamega sky, Youth gathered with dreams that reach high, A thousand voices, strong and clear, Declaring the future they hold dear.
At the EU booth, stories were told, Of learning, of journeys, of visions bold, Opportunities whispered, then echoed loud, Planting new hope within the crowd.
With every handshake, a bridge was made, Between policies written and lives portrayed, The YSB stood as a guiding light, Turning youth perspectives into sight.
Data became more than numbers to keep, It carried the voices, the promises deep, Of youth who believe, who act, who know, That change begins when their voices show.
And as the festival’s colors slowly dimmed, What remained was a future brightly trimmed, Connections woven, commitments true,
Kakamega was not an ending, but a beginning, a reminder that when youth and institutions meet in trust, the future is not just imagined, it is built.
