Perspectives and Views on the Beijing+25 Africa Review Process

Preparations for the review of 25 years of implementing the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA) i.e. Beijing +25 are ongoing. As with the previous reviews (Beijing +5, +10, +15 & +20), FEMNET continues to inform and mobilize women’s rights organizations to strategically contribute and influence the national, regional and global reviews. This is critical in our collective mandate of holding our governments accountable to delivering commitments under the BPfA 12 Critical Areas of Concern as well as reflecting and documenting the progress in the lives of women and girls.
In May 2019, FEMNET commissioned a survey to engage with her members and the wider women’s rights movement to capture their views and perspectives on the ongoing Beijing +25 review process.
80% of the respondents were from the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), 6.8% were individual activists/ advocates, 4.1% from the academia, 2.7 % from government sector, 1.4% from the private sector and 1.4% development partners.
